Mellow Monday is our eveing road bike shop ride designed to ease you back into the working week. It is intended as a recovery ride from the hard efforts of the weekend.
Starting the 4th April Mellow Monday will use a new course that is friendly for riding in the darker hours:
The Mellow Monday Tour de 'Burbs.
WHEN?
Every monday night, leaving Chilli Cycles at 6pm.
HOW FAR?
The course varies (30-35km) depending on the time of year and the mood of the group. We aim to be back to Chilli by 7.30pm or you can simply peel off and head home as the inclination grabs you.
The Tour de 'Burbs loop is a little shorter but 'lumpier' so the time works out about the same.
The Tour de 'Burbs is our winter ride around the back streets of Warragul so we can make use of the town's street and ambient light. We hope this allows those that don't possess retina-burning lights to still enjoy a bunch ride during the winter months. The course also contains it's fair share of lumps to help keep you warm too.
WHAT IF IT'S A PUBLIC HOLIDAY?
No ride on a public holiday. You had the whole day off, haven't you been for a ride already?
HOW FAST IS THE RIDE?
As fast as the slowest person on the ride. There are no prizes on Mellow Monday for being fast or first. Good conversation is more welcome than fast legs. Just be mellow man.
WHAT DO I NEED?
A road bike (drop handlebar) and a good attitude.
For the winter months dress for the end of the ride when the sun is well and truely gone and it gets colder as the ride goes on. If you feel a little overdressed at the start then you're probably about right.
DO I NEED LIGHTS?
Yes, especially during the winter months. The Tour de 'Burbs route is designed to use a lot of street and ambient town light so at a minimum you need lights that allow you to be seen by other road users. If you have something better then that's a bonus.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND?
Sure, if you've got one. The more the merrier.
